eMPower Millis is a Community Energy Aggregation (CEA) program that is being implemented on behalf of the town of Millis. This no obligation program focuses on improving the price, rate stability, and amount of renewable energy in your electricity supply for Millis residents and businesses that were receiving Basic Service from Eversource prior to the program launch. This program will begin as of the 1st electricity meter reading in January 2021 and continue through December 2023.
This video presented by Craig Gibbons, Chair of the Millis Energy Committee, explains the benefits and basic information about the program.
With eMPower Millis, Eversource will continue to deliver electricity and manage all electricity billing. The only change will be the source and cost of your electricity supply, chosen by the town of Millis through a competitive bidding process.
Goals of eMPower Millis
eMPower Millis seeks to procure electricity supply contracts when the market is favorable. Combined with the bulk buying power of thousands of households and businesses in the program, eMPower Millis aims to produce savings for customers compared to Eversource’s Basic Service rates, however, savings cannot be guaranteed.1
eMPower Millis secures multi-year, fixed price contracts. In contrast, Eversource Basic Service rates change every six months for Residential and Commercial customers, and every three months for Industrial customers.2
Local Renewable Energy
eMPower Millis’s standard product includes five (5) percent more local renewable energy known as Massachusetts Class I, than required by the State. This means you can have cleaner electricity, while helping to support the growth of renewable energy in our region. The Program also includes three optional products which include 50% or 100% more renewable energy than is required by the state, and one that simply meets the renewable energy level that is required by the State. Details on the electricity options can be found on the Electricity Options page.
eMPower Millis allows participants to leave the program or switch between options within the program at any time and without penalty.
eMPower MIllis has a default option, called Millis Regular, which has five (5) percent more renewable energy content than required by state law. Participants in the program receive Millis Regular unless they affirmatively choose one of the other electricity options.
All of the additional renewable electricity included in the eMPower Millis program is designated as Massachusetts Class I renewable electricity. Learn more about the renewable electricity included on the Clean Energy page.
eMPower Millis options will be available to all residents and businesses in Millis from January 2021 to end of December 2023.

How to Participate in eMPower Millis Program
As of the first meter read in January 2021, any resident or business in Millis receiving Basic Service supply from Eversource will be automatically enrolled in eMPower Millis’s standard option, Millis Regular. That means no action is necessary to participate!
- If you would like to choose one of our other options, you must submit the enrollment form.
- If you would not like to participate (opt-out), you must submit the opt-out form.
If you already have a competitive electricity supplier (that is not Eversource Basic Service), then you may join eMPower Millis when your existing contract ends. If you are thinking about terminating your existing competitive electricity supply contract, be sure to find out if there are penalties or fees for early termination before making your decision.
